BRANDY

Banshee's Braveheart, APDT-R1, TDI

We had the honor of spending 3 ˝ years with Brandy.  She came to us as a throwaway, dumped at a shelter in Brooklyn, NY.  Deaf, nearly blinded by entropion, lamed by infected feet and years spent in a too-small crate, and covered in oozing sores and growths, she struggled over to accept a treat, and then did her best to clamber up into the van.  Our fate was sealed.  We knew we would do whatever it took to make Brandy’s time with us, however short, as comfortable and meaningful as it could possibly be for her.

With the help of some very committed vets, we managed to restore her to good health and a measure of soundness.  In return, she showed us how to live life to its very fullest.   Brandy was always the first one at the door when it looked like there was an adventure at hand.  She traveled the country, cheering on her housemates at agility and obedience trials as well as national and regional specialties, and even managed to get a couple of titles for herself along the way.

She conquered every challenge she faced, but couldn’t beat the cancer that finally took her from us.   Brandy taught everyone she met what real courage is, and she worked tirelessly to recruit volunteers and raise funds for ABA rescue.

We are trying to live according to her example, and have strengthened our commitment to the ABA rescue effort and have also endowed “Brandy’s Fund” at the Bullmastiff Wellness Foundation to help our rescue dogs.
